July 2014: Virtalent was launched by Sam and Ellie Wilson, our Co-Founders, having recently graduated from university with five figures worth of debt and no job.
October 2014: Shortlisted for young entrepreneur award.
December 2014: Won first client. This saw Sam and Ellie working as Virtual Assistants to the client!
February 2015: Joined business accelerator programme, Entrepreneurial Spark, winning various startup awards and receiving support to get off the ground from RBS Natwest.
Spring 2015: Won several new clients, including restaurateur, Marco Pierre White!
May 2015: Double-page spread about the new business published in The Sunday Times. We even had a copy of the article signed by David Cameron, UK Prime Minister at the time.
September 2017: Hired our first member of staff, working as Client Success Manager.
January 2020: Surpassed 100 public 5* customer reviews on reviews.co.uk.
2020-2021: The company grew quickly during the COVID pandemic.
February 2021: Launched our new bespoke client portal, which handles everything from payments to time logs for tasks. This represents a significant improvement on any previous systems we had used.
Spring 2021: Surpassed 100 Virtual Assistants in the team.
Feb/ Spring 2023: Launched AssistYou programme, a support programme designed to help our VAs, clients and staff, deal with personal and professional challenges that could be affecting their home life, work life or general health and wellbeing.
May 2023: Anita Vickers, Client Success Manager, trained as a Mental Health First Aider. The company also became a Mindful Employer (NHS) and signed the Mental Health at Work Commitment (Mind).
Faced with unprecedented demand, we also doubled the number of staff we have in our internal team – creating several brand new roles.
June 2023: surpassed 200 Virtual Assistants in the team.
