Virtalent has long been committed to bolstering and supporting mental health among our staff, VAs, and clients. As part of this initiative, we recently renewed our pledge to them.
The latest review by the NHS-backed Mindful Employer initiative gave incredibly positive feedback. The review praised Virtalent’s efforts to foster a supportive and inclusive environment for mental well-being.
Some of the report’s highlights included the proactive approach to mental health, mainly through mental health training for managers. A team member recently attended a “Being a Mindful Manager” workshop. This workshop allowed them to gain new insights and tools to help them support other team members effectively. These learnings benefit the internal team through best practices and help the broader community of Virtalent by providing a proactive approach to mental health challenges and working to prevent challenges wherever possible.
The review highlighted several noteworthy areas, including creating resources to support people through grief and other mental health challenges. Team members have found these resources beneficial. The review also recognised that listening to staff feedback remains a core part of how the team cares for mental health.
Despite the challenges of managing a small internal team of just eight and a broader network of over 200 individuals, the family-like dynamic at Virtalent is exemplary and fosters an excellent culture of support. Mindful Employer approved our accreditation for another two years, marking a fantastic accomplishment.
Virtalent remains committed to enhancing the overall quality of mental well-being across the team, supporting those who need it, and offering resources wherever possible. With a strong foundation in mental health awareness, training, and support, we look forward to continuing to drive this important work forward and inspiring other small businesses to follow suit.
